During the first two full weeks of March the Curious Kids Science Club team engaged students in an Archaeological Dig at NAES. Team member, Misty Wietzel, is a forensic anthropology and bioarchaeology professor at Western Oregon University and has been so incredible to help the group create individual class opportunities to teach students about how researchers work at dig sites and analyze what they see. The students then put this information to work on a “real” dig which took place in the school raised garden beds. They were able to use real archaeological tools and fun artifacts like pottery and skeleton bones for them to uncover. Our students had a fabulous experience. Thank you CKSC volunteers!
